It's called work for a reason; it's not always fun. Those who love their work can't deny the grind, the ground hog repetition. It's hard work. What makes work fun is putting your shoulder behind things that are worthy.

Mike Rowe is every man’s favorite everyman—the stand-up hero of Dirty Jobs who will crawl under a friend’s house to clear a drainage line or clogged sewer. Think of a stinky, dirty, dangerous job, and Rowe’s done it—not counting dating your first wife.

Rowe has “traveled to all 50 states and completed 300 different jobs, transforming cable television into a landscape of swamps, sewers, ice roads, coal mines, oil derricks, crab boats, hillbillies, and lumberjack camps,” according to The Association of Financial Professionals. (Who would know more about dirty jobs than those guys?)

When he’s not working, Rowe runs a foundation that helps regular guys find regular jobs. He’s also a reformed opera singer—of course—so if he sees a group of guys standing around with a song on their lips, he’ll even pitch in and get right to work:
